Lentil Fritters

Lentils are always healthy options, including lentils in the diet is a good start and making it more interesting so it can end up in everybody’s stomach in the house is the main objective for me. My two dependants are very picky about food and to reach to their expectation is a bit challenging.

Lentil gravy or curry don’t get approval soon. So I usually find a different way and recipe so they like eating lentils. Lentil fritter is a very easy, healthy and tasty recipe.

Let’s see.


1/2 cup moong dal (soaked overnight)

1/2 cup chana dal(soaked overnight)

1/2 cup urad dal(soaked overnight)

3 to 4 tsp rice flour.

2 to 3 green chili

1 large size onion(chopped)

2 tsp cumin seed( jeera)

1 tsp caraway seeds (ajwain)

1/2 tsp baking soda

3/4 cup finely chopped coriander

10 to 12 curry leaves chopped.

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

salt to taste.

Oil to deep fry.


  • Grind all the lentils into a paste, don’t make runny consistency. I prefer adding no water.
  • Add rice flour and all the ingredients
  • Make a ball size shape and deep fry.
  • Seve with coconut chutney or chutney of your choice.
